Bryan Singer to direct CBS series Battle Creek scripted by Vince Gilligan

Ready for the next series from BREAKING BAD creator Vince Gilligan? No, I’m not talking about BETTER CALL SAUL; it’s actually a series for CBS called BATTLE CREEK.

The cop drama stars Dean Winters as Detective Russ Agnew and FBI agent Milton Chamberlain, “who have different worldviews but are teamed up to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, MI.” Gilligan and David Shore co-wrote the series. This is the second team up for Singer and Shore who worked together on HOUSE. Singer directed the pilot then took on the role of executive producer for the rest of the series.

Winters is fantastic in whatever role you put him in whether it’s on 30 ROCK, OZ, RESCUE ME, or as Mayhem from the Allstate Insurance commercials.

Kal Penn, another HOUSE alum, has signed on to play Detective Fontanelle.

The series isn’t something that Gilligan whipped up recently, in fact he wrote it a few years ago then after the success of BREAKING BAD I guess CBS wanted anything the scribe had his hands on.

Singer is currently finishing up his duties on X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
