Confirmed! William Fichtner will be Shredder in the TMNT reboot

When it was announced last month that William Fichtner had signed on for an iconic role in the TEENAGE MUTNAT NINJA TURTLES pretty much everyone assumed he was going to be Shredder in the reboot. There may have been some Krang super fans out there that were hopeful but in an interview with Huffpost TV Canada the actor let it slip that he will indeed be playing the villainous Shredder in the new film.

I play Shredder. It is cool. It's one of those things that came along where I thought, "Really? Let me think about this for a minute." [Laughs] Then I was like, "Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey." I'm very glad that it worked out, I'm really glad that I'm doing it.

It was pretty clear from the start who Fichtner would be playing in the reboot but it's always nice to have something like this confirmed. I always enjoy his work and he does a fantastic job playing villains so I'm a little excited to see what he brings to the character. I'm hoping the film ends up being a bit darker than the animated series so Fichtner will really get a chance to shine but even if it isn't necessarily gritty I'm sure William Fichtner will still be a great Shredder.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES with Megan Fox, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Danny Woodburn, Will Arnett and Whoopi Goldberg hits theaters June 6th, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: William Fichtner and Vincent D'Onofrio in STRANGE DAYS are probably the scariest corrupt cop duo in film. If they were real cops and I got pulled over by the two of them I would instantly lose about ten pounds because of all the shit I'd be depositing into my pants.
