Cool Videos: Check out this awesome 20 minute fan film based on Y: The Last Man

Y: THE LAST MAN is one of the best comic series of all time. I have no qualms about saying that. Brian K. Vaughn’s story ran for 60 issues and had one of the few runs that did not have any bad parts. I loved the story all the way through. I put it up alongside PREACHER as a comic series that is begging for a movie.

That is not to say there haven’t been attempts to do so. DJ Caruso and Shia LaBeouf were trying to follow up their success on DISTURBIA with an adaptation of the comic back in 2007. The project has remained in development hell and only recently did New Line Cinema reveal that J.C. Spink, Chris Bender and David Goyer were attached to produce the adaptation. Yet we still sit here waiting.

Y: THE LAST MAN RISING is a fan made video written and directed by Christian Cardona. The quality is heads and tails better than a lot of what you would find on YouTube and is the first truly cinematic vision of the comic that I have seen. Clocking in at just over 20 minutes, this is quite an accomplishment.

I hope Goyer and the execs at New Line take a look at this and get their asses into gear. Whether as a television series or a big screen movie, Y: THE LAST MAN needs to be filmed!
