Mark Romanek is a name we seem to see more often on studio wish lists than opening credits. His only two features to date are ONE HOUR PHOTO and NEVER LET ME GO — he bolted from THE WOLFMAN at the 11th hour, and the pilot he directed for Fox’s “Locke & Key” went unaired (although you can see the trailer HERE).
But Romanek achieved much of his acclaim through innovative music videos. That kind of short-form flash-and-dazzle is on full display in his new commercial for car company KIA, known for their head-bobbing hamsters… who now save a bleak future with some infectious fancy footwork.
