Cowabunga! The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film to release in 2013

Hello rad dudes! I got some good news for ya! The new live-action TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES film is set to release in 2013.

Now this won’t be the turtles you saw back in the 90s. While our turtle brothers did go through some deep issues, this version will be given the “darker, grittier” treatment. Josh Appelbaum and Andrew Nemec (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL) have brushed up the latest draft that originally was written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (IRON MAN). Last we heard, Jonathan Liebesman (WRATH OF THE TITANS) was in talks to direct the film with Michael Bay set to produce.

The interesting part about this entire thing is that they are going with CGI turtles, likely with mo cap. I thought it was hilarious when someone suggested that Andy Serkis play all the turtles. This looks like a job for WETA!

Personally, I had nostalgic attachments to the costumed turtles and the animatronics. But do kids still buy that these days?
