Emma Stone adds welcome eye candy to The Gangster Squad

JoBloJoBlo

If ever a movie needed the presence of a pretty gal, it’s THE GANGSTER SQUAD, which sports a manly mancast including Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Anthony Mackie, Michael Peña, Holt McCallany and Giovanni Ribisi.

Now Emma Stone is planning to reunite with her ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleisher for the Warner Bros. film, a period cop thriller revolving around 1940s Los Angeles mobster Mickey Cohen. The story is based on Paul Lieberman’s articles in the LA Times.

Stone would join the ensemble as a “sharp-tongued siren” who gets in a love triangle with Gosling and (perhaps implausibly) Penn as the mob boss. Brolin and Mackie join Gosling on the LAPD task force, which was created to fight organized crime and corruption. Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) was also attached but unfortunately had to exit due to schedule conflicts (he’s making Ben Affleck’s ARGO instead).

Stone will continue her ubiquitous summer (FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS, THE HELP, and CRAZY STUPID LOVE, also with Gosling) before ensnaring Peter Parker’s heart in next year’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.
