When Joe Carnahan's Dardevil failed to gain enough momentum to be greenlit, the rights reverted back to Marvel. Rather than jump back into the cinematic pool, they decided to take Matt Murdock to the small screen. Casting news has been flying out left and right in regards to the comic property and while we've known Charlie Cox would be portraying the Man without Fear for a few months now, today we get our first glimpse of the character via the Instagram of Craig Engler who happened to be on set in Brooklyn.

I was initially upset that Daredevil wouldn't be getting the theatrical treatment any time soon, but that quickly subsided when I realized that the stories of Daredevil really lend themselves to a format that will allow Marvel to explore the characters and situations more in-depth. Daredevil doesn't quite have that "wow factor" like most superheroes, but he remains a fascinating character none-the-less. Shows on TV are making large strides in character development and acting and I only hope that that Marvel takes this show as seriously as their theatrical properties. I haven't exactly been won over by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but I'm excited to see where this show goes.

The Daredevil TV series will debut sometime in 2015 on Netflix.
