Hellboy is asked to deal with a giant problem in first clip from the reboot

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In less than a month, HELLBOY will finally be unleashed, and although the Neil Marshall (THE DESCENT) film has continuously been touted as a "darker, more horror version of Hellboy," much of what we've seen of the reboot has pumped up the humour. The first HELLBOY clip has now arrived, and it finds Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (Ian McShane) informing Hellboy (David Harbour) that his assistance has been requested in dealing with a giant problem. You can probably tell where this is going.

I'm certainly willing to give HELLBOY a shot, but I'm not sure if I've been won over just yet. However, Ian McShane has previously teased that he thinks the reboot is "going to surprise a lot of people," adding, "David [Harbour] is a marvelous actor. He just fills out the role. It was nice and bittersweet taking over [Professor Bruttenholm] from a dear old friend of mine, John Hurt. But it’s not Part 3. It’s a complete reboot of [Guillermo del Toro’s] “Hellboy,” and I think they picked the right guy in David… And the scripts are funny and smart and bright, and the action is fantastic, and I have grandkids who love all that. They can’t wait." The upcoming HELLBOY reboot finds Mike Mignola's creation caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human as he battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. In addition to David Harbour as Hellboy and Ian McShane as Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, the film also stars Milla Jovovich as Nimue, the Queen of Blood, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, and Daniel Dae Kim as Major Ben Daimio.

HELLBOY will burst into theaters on April 12, 2019.
