Jennifer Lawrence the frontrunner for David O. Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Coming off successes WINTER’S BONE and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, young and lovely Jennifer Lawrence has naturally become one of the new go-to actresses for a variety of Hollywood projects. The latest potential gig, according to Deadline, is now that of David O. Russell’s upcoming THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK.

Lawrence is reportedly the frontrunner for the much-coveted female role in the drama opposite lead Mark Wahlberg. Other actresses said to be in the mix behind Lawrence are Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway, and Andrea Riseborough. Deadline is making it sound like Lawrence is pretty darn close to landing the part, though.

The film, based on the novel by Matthew Quick, “revolves around a former high school teacher who was institutionalized for depression and is then released into the care of his mother. He tries to win back his ex-wife but becomes involved with an eccentric neighbor with problems of her own.” Wahlberg will play the former high school teacher while Lawrence is up for the “eccentric neighbor” part.

THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is scheduled to begin production this fall.
