Jenny Slate in talks to join Tom Hardy in Venom

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As Venom is one of the most popular characters to pop out of Spider-Man's universe, it's a little surprising that we've had to wait so long for the character to be properly introduced on the big-screen (and no, I'm not counting Topher Grace's Venom in SPIDER-MAN 3), but we're now a mere year away from seeing Sony's VENOM unleashed.

The cast is beginning to come together and Variety has reported that Jenny Slate is currently in negotiations to join the VENOM cast alongside Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed. As for who Slate could play in the film, Variety's sources say that she will be playing a scientist in the film, with Justin Kroll adding that her character "works at the company owned by said villain (who may or may not be Carnage)" and that it's "also likely that whatever turns Hardy into Venom is stored at the facility she works at." ZOMBIELAND's Ruben Fleischer will be directing from a script by Scott Rosenberg (JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE) and Jeff Pinkner (THE DARK TOWER).

VENOM will hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
