Jessica Chastain might play Marilyn Monroe in Andrew Dominik’s Blonde

Back in 2010 we reported on a new movie about Marilyn Monroe called BLONDE from director Andrew Dominik (THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD, KILLING THEM SOFTLY) with Naomi Watts potentially playing the iconic actress. We haven't heard anything new on the project in a while, but it appears Dominik is trying to get it made again, because The Wrap is reporting Jessica Chastain is in final talks to play Marilyn Monroe in his planned film.

BLONDE won't be your traditional biopic, and is based on Joyce Carol Oates' fictional Marilyn Monroe memoir of the same name. The novel, "which reimagines the inner, poetic and spiritual life of Norma Jeane Baker — the child, the woman and the fated-celebrity better known by her studio name of Marilyn Monroe" was also adapted into a CBS mini-series starring Poppy Montgomery,

Michelle Williams most recently played the actress in MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, but Jessica Chastain's portrayal will likely be much different compared to Williams'. Worldview Entertainment will produce BLONDE with Brad Pitt and his Plan B company, and Andrew Dominik hopes to start production on the film sometime in August.

Some may say we don't really need another Marilyn Monroe biopic, but BLONDE sounds like it won't be the same as other movies involving the actress, and Jessica Chastain should do a great job playing Monroe.
