Kate Winslet in talks to join Idris Elba in The Mountain Between Us

Kate Winslet and Idris Elba seem to be the type of actors who people will watch in just about anything, and we may get the chance to see the pair share the screen in an upcoming adaptation of Charles Martin's "The Mountain Between Us". THR reports that Kate Winslet is currently in negotiations to join Idris Elba in the romantic survival drama which will fall under the direction of Hany Abu-Assad (OMAR).

THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US follows an author (Winslet) and a surgeon (Elba) who share a charter plane together after the last outgoing flight has been cancelled due to an approaching storm. Cue plane crash and the pair must learn to work together in order to survive in the snowy wilderness all while battling broken bones and their own mutual attraction! Why, I never! Chris Weitz (ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY) penned the most recent draft of the screenplay and the studio is looking to kick off production this December in British Columbia.

On a stormy winter night, two strangers wait for a flight at the Salt Lake City airport. Ashley Knox is an attractive, successful writer, who is flying East for her much anticipated wedding. Dr. Ben Payne has just wrapped up a medical conference and is also eager to get back East for a slate of surgeries he has scheduled for the following day. And then the unthinkable happens. The pilot has a heart attack mid-flight and the plane crashes into the High Uintas Wilderness– one of the largest stretches of harsh and remote land in the United States.

As for future projects, Kate Winslet will star alongside Will Smith, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, and Edward Norton in COLLATERAL BEAUTY on December 16, 2016 and Idris Elba has FINDING DORY on June 17, 2016, STAR TREK BEYOND on July 22, 2016, and is currently in the midst of production on THE DARK TOWER in which he stars as Roland Deschain opposite Matthew McConaughey's Man in Black.
