Miami Vice reboot coming from Vin Diesel and Fast & Furious’ Chris Morgan

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So it looks like yet another MIAMI VICE remake is on the way (after the failed 2006 film starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx), this time bringing it back to television from whence it came. Not only that, but it will be produced by two guys who know a thing or two about undercover cops and fast cars, FAST & FURIOUS star Vin Diesel and screenwriter Chris Morgan.

No word on what other role they'd play beyond producing (Morgan isn't even writing the pilot), or if Diesel will film a cameo or something. Or – perhaps most importantly – will it be another modern retelling, like the film, or will it embrace the campy 80s kitsch of the original? Personally, I'd prefer a period piece myself, especially with the (somehow still) current 80s nostalgia. Also we already saw the gritty reboot crash and burn, so I imagine it'd be foolish to try that approach again.

To be fair, I was born too late to have any affinity for the 80s, so I have no nostalgia or stake in the MIAMI VICE brand. It could be good, however I just don't know what MIAMI VICE brings to the undercover cop genre besides the unique style of the original show (like that tacky white suit)? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

So you guys down for a MIAMI VICE remake from the FAST & FURIOUS guys? Either way, sound off below!
