Musical Valley Girl

Besides remakes, musicals seem to be the Big Thing at the moment (I blame ABBA), so we should probably prepare for more announcements like this one.

A musical remake of the cult fave VALLEY GIRL is in the works at MGM, with “Shrek: The Musical” director Jason Moore making his feature debut to wave the conductor wand for the new pop, punk and Plimsouls cover tunes.

The 1983 original was probably best remember for its soundtrack, like gnarly lingo fer sher, 80s fixation Deborah Foreman, and of course an early wacky performance from a hilariously haired Nic Cage (one of countless). The culture-clash story follows a shallow California high school gal who falls for a Hollywood weirdo. Cage hasn’t really changed, huh?
