Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray art and bonus features revealed

When STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS finally gets an official street date announced by Disney for its Blu-ray release, a lot of you (myself included) will be marking that day down on our calendar as to when we need to add the next episode to our STAR WARS collection in order to maintain the full set. It doesn't matter what else is coming as a part of those discs, we're getting it anyway. But… it would be nice to know what else we are getting our money when all is said and done, right?

Over the last few days, some chunks of information have been revealed, as retail presale listings have gone up and subsequently then been taken down. However, everyone forgets how the internet works, which is, once it's up and out there, it's staying out there.

Let's start with the cover art for the Blu-ray release, which appears to deviate from the film's final one sheet art and goes right to the face of one of the movie's most beloved characters.

That doesn't mean the outer box might not feature something more traditional… as this may be the art used for the actual case or vice-versa. You may find BB-8 on the outside with something we've already seen before on the box. Then, of course, different retailers may have something else, depending on the packaging…. But no matter how you slice it, BB-8 will be prominently displayed somewhere.

Then there's the special features, which appear to be comprised of the following:

  • Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey
  • The Story Awakens: The Table Read
  • Building BB-8
  • Crafting Creatures
  • Blueprint of a Battle: The Snow Fight
  • The Visual Magic Of The Force
  • John Williams: The Seventh Symphony
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Force For Change

I know everyone wants to know what is going to make up those deleted scenes, but right now there is no indication as to what may be included from what Abrams had shot, especially if it might conflict or contradict with the final version of THE FORCE AWAKENS story that was told. The table read is a very cool addition that most fans will be excited to check out, and, of course, we get your usual run of featurettes that break down the process. All in all, looks par for the course.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is rumored to arrive on Blu-ray on a date that remarkably rhymes with Fapril Lift.
