Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker heads to Disney+ two months early

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The force is strong with surprises for STAR WARS fans. Disney is giving fans under quarantine a bit of a treat by releasing STAR WAR: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER two months ahead of schedule on their streaming platform, Disney+.

The new launch date is very fitting for STAR WARS fans as it will now be available to stream globally on the service beginning on May 4, 2020 ("May The Fourth Be With You"). This date will also see the launch of the docuseries Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian and the final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the service.

THE RISE OF SKYWALKER has already been the number one home entertainment title (Blu-ray, electronic sell-thru, digital rental) in the U.S. over the past four weeks. Adding the film to Disney+ only opens it up to more people who may not have seen the film during its successful box office run which had the final entry of the SKYWALKER saga earning over a billion dollars worldwide. As for Disney releasing the film ahead of schedule on streaming, the mouse house has been on top of that during this unprecedented quarantine season by releasing FROZEN II & ONWARD early on the service so families could have options for viewing while they're sheltered at home.

Will you be streaming THE RISE OF SKYWALKER on Disney+? "May the fourth by with you" when STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER hits streaming on May 4, 2020.
