Attack the Block helmer, Joe Cornish, is set to write and direct an adaptation of Mark Millar's Starlight for 20th Century Studios.

Hopping aboard the Starlight train as producers are Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon via Genre Films, with Nira Park also producing. Known primarily for directing Attack the Block, an outstanding alien invasion film that helped jump-start John Boyega's career, Cornish also shot The Kid Who Would Be King, and shares writing credits on both Ant-Man and The Adventures of Tin-Tin.

Per Goodreads, here's what the first volume of Starlight is all about:

Forty years ago, Duke McQueen saved an alien world from destruction. Back on earth, nobody believed his story. Now his kids are grown, his wife has passed on, and life has little to offer. Until the day a strange boy from the world he once saved makes an appearance, coaxing Duke to join him on one last adventure. Can Duke handle the leap from has-been to hero?
