Like a lot of people I talked to about MAN OF STEEL, I feel one of the best sequences of the entire film was the opening scene in Krypton. Never has Superman's home world been brought to life with such imagination, detail, and the awesome action that took place. It can't be too surprising that with the recent influx of TV superheroes that Superman's grandpa would get his own show right? OK maybe that is a little surprising come to think of it.

We first heard about the idea of a Superman prequel series at the end of October when David Goyer was attached to the series tentatively called Krypton. Syfy is now officially working with the MAN OF STEEL screenwriter as well as Warner Horizon Television and DC Comics to bring the series to the small screen. The drama will tell the story of Superman's grandpa, "as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest superhero ever known."

It will be interesting to see how the show deals with such a vast origin story, especially knowing how it all turns out a generation later. The show is described as being in the same vein as Fox’s Gotham, which has grown on me substantially since its awful pilot episode. The series is still in the development stage, so it doesn’t have a pilot order just yet, but you can bet on Syfy going for it.

Do you think Krypton has potential?
