The Avengers assemble in the first trailer for their new video game

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Everyone in the world piled into theaters to watch the Avengers assemble for AVENGERS: ENDGAME, the superhero epic to end them all that marked the end for some of our favorite heroes. However, this isn’t the last time we will see characters like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, and in fact, next time we will get to control their superhero powers with Square Enix and Marvel’s upcoming new video game “Marvel’s Avengers.” The studio unveiled the first look trailer last night at E3, assembling Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow and Thor for an epic adventure that gives you all their powers to control. Use them wisely…or don’t, it’s your money.

There wasn’t much teased of the game’s actual gameplay, but series of large in-game cinematics united the team and had them facing off against a threat on the Golden Gate bridge, with glimpses of what it will look like to control members of the team. The game is just the start of what seems like a fruitful relationship between Marvel, Enix, and Crystal Dynamics, the developers behind the latest run of “Tomb Raider” games. At the conference, it was announced that new heroes and new regions would be added regularly as expansion content, and all of which will be offered at no additional cost to players.

As for the story, players will be introduced to the game-ified heroes during the San Francisco fight, but after things go terribly wrong will find them five years later, being branded criminals who are trying to deal with the aftermath of the events. Players won’t have to go on the adventure alone, and they can partner up for multi-player co-op with as many as three friends.

While it may be a few months before we get a better look at the actual gameplay, the game itself looks like quite the epic as the team finally gets their fair shake with a dramatic, action-packed story. The character models are a bit off, looking a tad blocky and not all that detailed, but there's plenty of time to work on stuff before the May 15, 2020 release date. The game looks much bolder than what we've seen before in superhero games, at least when it comes to content and story, so hopefully the game, like the movies, lives up to those expectations with something people will be playing for years.

"Marvel's Avengers" is on stands May 15, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and Windows PC.
