This new Big Hero 6 footage should excite even the tiniest Marvel fans

BIG HERO 6 has been stuck in a weird middle ground between being a Disney film and a Marvel movie. Despite clearly being based on a Marvel comic, the company had no creative control over the film and therefore their name is nowhere to be seen in the marketing materials. Until now. At the New York Comic Con, a brand new trailer for the animated action film debuted and on screen we clearly see the words "inspired by the Marvel comic book". While it may not be their logo, it certainly ends the separation from it's origins.

And to boot, the new trailer is the most action-packed yet. The first two trailers emphasized Baymax and the bond he is bound to forge with young Hiro Hamada, definitely in the Disney-zone. But, this new trailer showcases the various suits the young protagonists wear to do battle with the Kabuki-masked villain. All together, this looks the way I expected the first animated Marvel movie to appear.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”

Directors Don Hall and Chris Williams seem to have found a nice visual style that will make BIG HERO 6 unique while also keeping the sense of humor that won over fans in both FROZEN and WRECK-IT RALPH, the two recent Disney movies whose logos are all over the marketing for this movie. As a parent, this looks like a movie I can enjoy with my kids as much as I will enjoy it myself.

BIG HERO 6 opens on November 7, 2014.
