Tony Jaa will elbow you between the eyes in a 3D sequel to Tom Yum Goong

Now that he’s apparently recuperated from going a little nutty, Tony Jaa is getting back to what he does best: busting skulls with his knees and elbows.

Jaa will be back with his unearthly acrobatics and fondness for pachyderms in a sequel to TOM YUM GOONG (aka THE PROTECTOR). The Thai fighter will reunite with director Prachya Pinkaew and action choreographer Panna Rittikrai for the 3D movie, budgeted at 300 million baht (around $10 million US).

TOM YUM GOONG 2 features the return of cop sidekick Petthai “Mum Jokmok” Wongkumlao, and will also star young whirlwind girl JeeJa Yanin, who effectively maneuvered and smashed her way through CHOCOLATE (also reportedly getting a 3D sequel).

The first TOM YUM GOONG starred Jaa as a villager who chases his stolen elephant to Australia, where he engages in deliriously cartoonish mayhem and increasingly insane setpieces (including an astounding restaurant skirmish seemingly done in one long take).

After recovering his beast, Jaa went off and directed and starred in two ONG-BAK sequels/prequels, leading to a meltdown and brief monkhood.
