The Walking Dead’s 10th season trailer revealed, plus feature-film tease

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The Walking Dead franchise just keeps truckin' on. Despite the long-running comic-book series coming to an end several weeks ago, AMC released a statement assuring fans that the franchise has many years of life left. "This extraordinary comic created a world that already lives in multiple forms, and in the hearts and minds of millions of fans around the world, and will for many years to come. The comic series ending is not expected to impact the TV series." To that end, the network announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Fear the Walking Dead would be renewed for a sixth season and also released a trailer for the tenth season of The Walking Dead, which is slated to premiere on October 6, 2019.

But wait, there's more! Remember that trilogy of Walking Dead movies which will complete the story of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln)? Well, Universal Pictures have released a short teaser for that as well, which ominously shows a helicopter heading towards the city. Only in theaters, folks!

In other Walking Dead news, Danai Gurira has confirmed reports that she'll be departing the series in the tenth season. Gurira has played the role of Michonne, the katana-wielding badass, since the third season of the long-running AMC series. Much like Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan during their final season, it's been said that Gurira will only appear in a handful of season ten episodes. "I can confirm that this is the last season I will be on this amazing TV show as Michonne," Gurira told the Comic-Con audience. "I would just like to say that this has been one of the purest joys of my life to play this role and to be amongst these people and those who are not here right now and amongst all of you. I'm very thankful for the experience I've had in ways I can't state right now. My heart does not leave in any way, shape or form. The TWD family is forever. The connection between us never ends."
