What did you think of…Rambo: Last Blood?

SPOILERS BEWARE! (Avoid comments section if you haven't seen the film and don't want it spoiled)

It's been eleven years since we last saw Rambo on the big screen (in the aptly-titled RAMBO or JOHN RAMBO, depending on the version you're watching), which saw the war-torn Vet leave the jungle once and for all and return to the good ol' U.S.A., presumably in his birth state of Arizona. Now, we pick up where that ending left off with RAMBO: LAST BLOOD, which finds John J. working on a ranch and forming familial bonds for the first time since 'Nam. Naturally, Rambo is challenged when one of the people he's bonded with, a young woman (Yvette Monreal), is taken to be sold into sex slavery, prompting Rambo to…go all Rambo on their asses. Sounds about right.

Thus far, critics seem to be split between hating the film for its portrayal of the uglier side of the world, while others are enjoying the revenge-laden tale for its bloody revelries. Personally, I had some fun with it, but it's my least favorite of the franchise, feeling more like a CliffsNotes version of Rambo than a fully fleshed out film and devoid of the usual heroics we've seen in previous entries. Chris Bumbray had similar feelings, but was a bit more forgiving in his 7/10 review, saying, "Even if it’s arguably the least of the series, it’s never anything less than serviceable, and the last half hour is a classic piece of over the top action, making it a must-see."

And with that, now it's your turn! We want to hear what YOU thought of the film! Naturally, we'd prefer you to comment only if you've seen the film as that's the point here, but do what feels good. Just don't get mad if you get trounced for trolling or posting blatant spoilers in headlines. Healthy debate, genuine thoughts, and respectful interactions is all we ask.

Is RAMBO: LAST BLOOD a fitting entry in the Rambo franchise or is it too little (or too much), too late?
