IMDb’s “top ten searches of the decade” lists include The Dark Knight, Lost, and Johnny Depp all at #1

Why so serious, internet?

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is used by a lot of people, whether they’re actually looking up a movie to find out who was involved in making it or playing their own version of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.  And being a website that receives plenty of hits every single day, IMDb has of course been tracking how many hits each page (i.e. each movie/actor) gets.  That information has now been compiled and released, and the results are… well, if you’ve ever paid any attention to pop culture few names on this list will surprise you all that much.  But it’s still cool to know, and to have that info correlated and compiled and given some perspective.  I’d also say it’s just as interesting to see who or what is not on these lists as it to see who or what is on them.  But enough about me – let’s look at the lists!

Top Films of the Last 10 Years

Note: “At one point of course fan voting on the page was so high-scoring and frantic that for a brief while The Dark Knight was listed first on their Top 250 films of all time user rated list, though currently it lies at no. 8.”  How about that? Top Film of All Time according to user rating.  I mean, I knew thatthe  love for THE DARK KNIGHT was a rare thing in how it, as a genre/comic book property, had spread across the world and pervaded pop-culture, but top film of all time? Nice work, Nolan and company.
