Wolfenstein update

“Castle Wolfenstein” was one of the very first video games I ever played on a PC (except for maybe “Spellicopter” or “Oregon Trail”). Considering everything on Nintendo was generally pretty whitewashed, it was incredible for my young eyes to see “Wolfenstein 3D” and its graphic depiction of violence. Now with a new game on the way (“Wolfenstein” is due some time later this year for 360 and PS3), the game’s developer spoke out about the planned film. Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software, spoke to EuroGamer and said that Roger Avary is finally getting to work on the script. “With the writer’s strike it took so long to get underway and Roger Avary, the writer, had a commitment that was in line before working the WOLFENSTEIN stuff, but I’ve recently been in contact with Roger and he’s actually working on the script right now.” Hollenshead admitted the progress was going “a little bit slower than what we would have expected” but that he was still optimistic Avary would deliver the goods. That’s good news especially since Avary’s January DUI/manslaughter charge threatened to derail this and all his other projects. Welcome back Roger!
