Christmas is saved in Canada! How about that, eh?

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today its hybrid release strategy in Canada for the major superhero tentpole film Wonder Woman 1984. In recognition of varying market restrictions and to service the massive fan interest in the film, Canadians will have multiple ways to experience the hugely anticipated DC Superhero action-adventure. Fans and families will be able to enjoy the film on the big screen where available in theatres, or in the comfort of their own home through Premium Video on Demand (PVOD).

Wonder Woman 1984 will be available for rental via PVOD for $29.99 beginning on Friday, December 25 (price listed Canada SRP). The title will be available via participating digital platforms.

I'm not going to lie, friends. As a Canadian resident, I was rather salty by the idea of The Great White North being left out in the cold with regard to the release of Wonder Woman 1984. Not only are we about to enter a "Red Zone" COVID restriction period this coming Monday (in Ontario), but many theaters are still shuttered due to the pandemic. In other words, it would have been really difficult, not to mention dangerous, to try and catch Diana in theaters this holiday. Now, thanks to the power of technology, we Canadians can enjoy the film in the comfort and safety of our own homes.

In Wonder Woman 1984, the fate of the world is once more on the line, and only Wonder Woman can save it.  This new chapter in the Wonder Woman story finds Diana Prince living quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s – an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all.  Though she’s come into her full powers, she maintains a low profile, curating ancient artifacts and only performing her superheroic acts incognito.  But now, Diana will have to step directly into the spotlight and muster all her wisdom, strength, and courage in order to save mankind from a world of its own making.

Wonder Woman 1984 will land in select theaters, on HBO Max, and on Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) on December 25th. It's a Christmas miracle if there ever was one!
