Zachary Quinto is transformed into a supernatural monster in NOS4A2 image

Adapted from Joe Hill's novel of the same name, NOS4A2 is an upcoming AMC series which features Zachary Quinto as Charlie Manx, a supernatural predator who feeds on the life forces of children in order to remain immortal. Entertainment Weekly have released a first-look photo from the series and if I didn't already know that it was Quinto buried under all that makeup, I'd probably never be able to guess.

In addition to feeding on their life force, Manx deposits what's left of the children in a fantasy world he created known as Christmasland. "In the journey they become these ghoulish creatures, and Charlie Manx is fed with vitality and youth," Quinto told EW. The show's title, a nod to Nosferatu, refers to the vanity plate on Manx's car, a 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith, which showrunner Jami O'Brien says "has a very special relationship with Charlie Manx. I would describe them as partners in crime." Facing off against Charlie Manx will be Vic McQueen (Ashleigh Cummings), a young woman who is about to enter her senior year at a high school in Massachusetts. "She’s a working-class kid who has such a creative mind that it actually gives her a kind of superpower," said O’Brien. "Charlie Manx becomes aware of her and realizes that she may be bad news for him, so he has to figure out pretty quickly what to do about her."

A synopsis of "NOS4A2" via Amazon:

Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country. Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.” Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.

The ten-episode series of NOS4A2 will premiere on AMC next summer.
