UPDATE: As promised, Netflix has released the trailer for Charlie Kaufman's I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS which can be viewed above!

It's been five years since Charlie Kaufman's last directorial outing, ANOMALISA, but the screenwriter behind BEING JOHN MALKOVICH, ADAPTATION, and ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND will soon back on the scene with I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS, a psychological thriller which will debut on Netflix next month.

Netflix has released the first poster for the film which you can check out below.

I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS follows Jake (Jesse Plemons) and his girlfriend (Jessie Buckley) as they drive out to his childhood home for her to meet his parents (David Thewlis and Toni Collette). On the way there, the sense slowly builds that things aren’t quite what they seem; upon arrival, the pair are thrust in directions that bend the laws of reality, memory, and love. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly last month, Charlie Kaufman said that "loneliness and hopelessness and regret" are "part of the fabric of this film."

The film is based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Iain Reid, and Kaufman added that "The house represents the imagined interaction between someone you bring home to your parents — that panic that is twoheaded at that point. You’re worried about what they’re going to think about your parents, and you’re always worried about what your parents are going to think of them."

I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS will debut on Netflix on September 4, 2020.
