Netflix snags new horror series from Hill House director Mike Flanagan

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Looks like Netflix and THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE and GERALD'S GAME writer-director Mike Flanagan are staying in cahoots as today we have word that the streaming giant has just given another show by Flanagan and producer Trevor Macy the greenlight. This time the seven-episode series is called MIDNIGHT MASS and will be directed by Flanagan.

It will follow:

An isolated island community that experiences miraculous events — and frightening omens — after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.

On top of directing all seven episodes of this new Netflix horror series MIDNIGHT MASS, Flanagan will also serve as an executive producer alongside Macy. Unfortunately, that's all we know about this new series thus far but we will make sure to keep an extra close on eye on the show as it develops and pass along word as soon as we hear anything more.

In the meantime, remember that Netflix and Flanagan have the second season of THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE aka THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR heading our way in 2020. The second season will be an adaptation of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw and will begin filming in Vancouver on September 30th. Victoria Pedretti, who played “Nell” Crain Vance in season 1, will be back as the lead for season 2.

Based on the Henry James story The Turn of the Screw, season two might follow the novel's synopsis, which is

a psychological thriller about a woman who takes a governess job for two orphans in a Victorian home. She begins to see what she believes are ghosts and suspects the children's bizarre behavior is the result of supernatural powers.

I don't know about you but I'm a HUGE fan of Mike Flanagan and so this series has already made the near-top of my must-0see horror list. How excited are you for another Mike Flanagan/Netflix horror series? Let us know below!
