DEAD MAN DOWN, the new revenge/action pic from Neils Arden Oplev, the director of the Swedish version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, looks like it could easily be a sleeper hit. Starring Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, and Terrence Howard, it’s got all the makings of a gritty action pic with a top notch cast and director who can bring style, intrigue, and hard-hitting violence to life.  Although it’s one of those projects that just hovered in my peripherals as it developed, the trailer really sold me, and I’m absolutely looking forward to catching it in theaters.  It looks like it will have enough twists, turns, action, and hard-boiled performances from all involved to make it worth my while.

Farrell has been on a quiet streak of interesting pics of late (I recently caught SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS and had a blast) and Rapace is a magnetic presence all around. I’ve got high hopes for this one, especially after the disappointment of both THE LAST STAND and BULLET TO THE HEAD.

In this new featurette, the cast talks about working with Arden Oplev and what he brings to the film, while Arden Oplev himself discusses why he chose this as his first American feature and what he hope to bring to the genre.  Cool stuff.

Take a look:

DEAD MAN DOWN is slated for release on March 8, 2013.
