If your like me and you read I AM LEGEND, you must’ve been just as disappointed as I was about the ending of the theatrical film. The Arrow was torn on the whole flick. Like The Arrow, I dug the flick a lot (minus the horrible CGI), but the ending just ruined the whole thing for me.
Granted, it didn’t stray away from the basic idea of the book’s ending, but it didn’t have anywhere near the same impact. The book’s ending left me bewildered and in a state of aw. Maybe I’m overdoing it, but it was a great ending.
What am I getting at? Well Collider/Omelete recently spoke to I AM LEGEND director Francis Lawrence at the I AM LEGEND premiere in Brazil.
He went on to state how there’s a different ending set for the second DVD release. Will Smith joins in and states how 6 seconds of it can be found in one of the teaser trailers, and that the new ending is “less commercial.”
Now the book’s ending is very non-commercial, so although I highly doubt it, here’s hoping this new ending is more in line with the novel!
