New Scream movie promo gives cast members something to scream about

A new promo has arrived online to remind us that a new Scream movie will be reaching theatres on January 14, 2022. It’s something quick and simple, along the lines of the “Friendskilling” character posters we saw last week – in this case, cast members Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, and Courteney Cox have been asked to look into the camera and scream… and it comes off as pretty goofy, until we reach Neve Campbell, looking ready to kick some more Ghostface ass as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott. You can check out the promo in the embed above, where it’s followed by the film’s trailer.

The new Scream is coming to us from Ready or Not (watch it HERE) directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The screenplay was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Vanderbilt also produced the film for Project X Entertainment, alongside Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Chad Villella, Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, and Marianne Maddalena serve as executive producers alongside original Scream writer Kevin Williamson.

The film has the following synopsis:

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.

You can read our set visit interview with the directors at THIS LINK, and our set visit interview with cast members HERE.

Barrera, Ortega, Cox, and Campbell are joined in the cast by David Arquette, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dylan Minnete, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Kyle Gallner, and Sonia Ammar.

Although this new movie is simply titled Scream, it is a follow-up to the previous four Scream movies, as you can tell from the fact that Campbell, Cox, Arquette, and Shelton are back as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, Dewey Riley, and Judy Hicks.
