New Scream movie gets another retro poster from Creepy Duck Design

Last week, Creepy Duck Design released an officially licensed, retro-style poster for the new Scream movie that made it look like the movie came out in the 1980s instead of reaching theatres on January 14, 2022. Now Creepy Duck Design has released another ’80s retro-style poster for the new Scream, and you can check that one out below:

I have to admit, I don’t really understand the urge to make ’80s-style posters for this movie, which is a sequel to a franchise that started in the 1990s. I have a lot of nostalgia for ’80s era entertainment and things that play into that nostalgia – like Stranger Things and Cobra Kai, for example – often go over very well with me. But in this case the ’80s nostalgia feels out of place. The posters do look good, though, and it’s cool that Paramount is working with Creepy Duck on these.

The Scream “legacy-quel” is coming to us from Ready or Not (watch it HERE) directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The screenplay was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Vanderbilt also produced the film for Project X Entertainment, alongside Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Chad Villella, Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, and Marianne Maddalena serve as executive producers alongside original Scream writer Kevin Williamson.

The film has the following synopsis:

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.
