The new animated holiday epic from Dreamworks, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, has turned up the heat with this new action-filled trailer for the film.  Starring the voice talents of Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin, Isla Fisher, and Jude Law, the pic is based on the series of books by William Joyce.

Get pumped for the holidays…all of them:

This looks pretty fun to me.  I say that a lot about animated films, but really, that’s what they’re meant to be.  I don’t expect Dark Knight style depth from films like this, so “fun” is something to shoot for.  It’s a high-concept premise with an ambitious set up, so hopefully it won’t swallow itself up with too much “busyness” onscreen.  I loved HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON as well as the KUNG FU PANDA films, so Dreamworks has done all right in my book.

Here’s the synopsis:

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS is an epic and magical adventure that tells the story of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and Jack Frost – legendary characters with previously unknown extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children everywhere.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS opens on November 21, 2012.
