Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling disrupted by positive COVID test

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

New Line Cinema has pressed pause on the filming of director Olivia Wilde's psychological thriller DON'T WORRY, DARLING after someone involved with the production tested positive for COVID-19. The person wasn't a part of the principal cast, but was working in "close enough proximity" to them to cause concern. Everyone involved with the production will now be going into quarantine for two weeks. Deadline hears that filming will resume as soon as the quarantine period is over.

Filming on DON'T WORRY DARLING started a couple weeks ago. Scripted by Carey and Shane Van Dyke, with rewrites by Wilde and Katie Silberman, the story is set "in an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert". It centers on

an unhappy housewife who slowly begins to question her own sanity when she starts to notice strange occurrences in her community.

Florence Pugh stars as that housewife, with Harry Styles playing her "picture-perfect husband, who loves her dearly, but is hiding a dark secret from her". Chris Pine co-stars as "the revered leader of a mysterious worksite where all the men work just outside of town".

The synopsis and character descriptons are definitely giving out some STEPFORD WIVES vibes.

Also in the cast as KiKi Layne, Gemma Chan, and Nick Kroll. Wilde has also reserved a "key supporting role" for herself.

Wilde and Silberman are producing DON'T WORRY, DARLING with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. Catherine Hardwicke serves as executive producer alongside the Van Dykes. Richard Brener, Daria Cercek, and Celia Khong are overseeing the project for New Line Cinema.
