Override trailer: sci-fi thriller gets September UK release

Writer/director Richard Colton’s sci-fi thriller Override was released in the United States back in April (you can get a copy at THIS LINK), but it won’t be reaching Digital and DVD in the UK until September 6th. In anticipation of the UK release, we’ve gotten our hands on a trailer for the film, which can be seen in the embed above.

Described as a cross between The Truman Show and Westworld, the film stars Jess Impiazzi, Luke Goss, Dean Cain, Kimberly Wyatt and Charlie Clapam. Here’s the synopsis:

In 2040, a female humanoid A.I. is hacked by her husband and forced to kidnap the U.S. vice president’s son and execute him on live television.

Ria (Impiazzi) is a young woman who finds herself reliving the same day over and over. Each day Ria wakes up to her normal routine but finds a different person playing her husband ‘Jack’ by her side. Why? Because Ria is actually the star of her own reality show A DAY WITH RIA’. Each husband is a contestant, there to show the world what they are made of. Ria re-lives her perfect 1950’s housewife day over and over again, until one day her routine becomes tiresome and Ria holds the current Jack (Clapham) to ransom. This Jack also happens to be the Vice President (Cain) of the USA’s son. These dramatic turns of events mean the public discover the true massive conspiracy behind Ria, her husband(s) and one man’s (Goss) secret vendetta against the Vice President.

The film was previously known as Ria, which stands for Reality Interface Android.

Override looks like crazy fun to me, and I really like what we see of Impiazzi’s performance. While she may be best known for her appearances on the reality shows Ex on the Beach and Celebrity Big Brother, she has also had acting roles in multiple genre films, like Serial Kaller, The Seven, and The Tombs.
