People are jerks in trailer for I Don’t Feel At Home in this World Anymore

Oh good grief, I am so feeling the vibe of this trailer, especially those first 10 seconds. Go ahead, check it out, I’ll wait. * Hums the Jeopardy theme song while you watch the trailer we’ve posted below * There, do you see what I mean? It’s no surprise that the world is full of assholes, and boy oh boy does Ruth Kimke (Melanie Lynskey) look as if she’s surrounded by them. That’s more or less the premise of I DON’T FEEL AT HOME IN THE WORLD ANYMORE, though I’m positive that there’s more to it than that.

From director Macon Blair, I DON’T FEEL AT HOME IN THE WORLD ANYMORE follows the story of Ruth Kimke, a less-than-enthusiastic woman, who after being burglarized, befriends her rather bizarre neighbor, Tony (Elijah Wood). Together, the unlikely pair lead a dangerous investigation into Ruth’s missing belongings. As you can tell from the trailer, this feature looks to tell a simple story that, once unraveled, reveals that it has several branching paths and working parts. One thing’s for sure, If the off-beat comedy displayed here doesn’t get you, maybe the details of Ruth’s ordeal will draw you in. That, or the fact that we have Elijah Wood stepping into yet another bizarre role, which he often does while exuding his own brand of off-kilter flare.

Blair’s quirky crime drama has already been the subject of much talk coming from this year’s Sundance Film Festival, with many critics stating the lasting appeal of Lynskey’s performance, and how she’s a whiz at playing her part as the depressed yet not-to-be-taken-advantage-of Ruth. The good news here is that you’ll be able to decide for yourself whether the movie is you jam or not, seeing as I DON’T FEEL AT HOME IN THE WORLD ANYMORE will release on Netflix come this February 24, 2017.
