Playtime is over in Child’s Play remake TV spot

In less than a month, a new version of the killer doll Chucky will be stalking and slashing on the big screen in a remake of the 1988 classic CHILD'S PLAY. We've seen a couple trailers for the remake, and now a TV spot has been released that shows a good amount of "new Chucky" action.

Rather than being possessed by the soul of a serial killer, the new Chucky is "an obsolete model of the bestselling Buddi doll with a glitch in his chip and the ability to control a vast network of interconnected devices." Being an A.I. gone wrong explains why this Chucky's eyes glow red when he's pissed off.

The CHILD'S PLAY remake is directed by Lars Klevberg from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith that retains the basic story of the original film. The horror begins when

a mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

The film stars Aubrey Plaza and Gabriel Bateman as that mother and son. Their co-stars include Brian Tyree Henry, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke, with Mark Hamill providing the voice of Chucky.

Produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith through their company KatzSmith Productions, the new CHILD'S PLAY is being released by MGM subsidiary Orion Pictures through their United Artists Releasing banner on June 21st.

I really don't have any issue with what's going on in the previews for this CHILD'S PLAY, but I'm still going to wait to check this one out on home video.
