After Dark Films, the guys behind the annual 8 Films to Die For, have a new present heading our way called After Dark Originals. In case you haven’t been following along, allow me to update you all on what After Dark Originals is exactly.
Tapping into the vast and innovative talent of directors and filmmakers from Horrorfest’s acquisitions over the past 4 years, After Dark has taken the horror festival concept to a higher level. After Dark Originals showcases eight new cutting edge horror films spanning the genre. The mission is to create high quality horror films that provide After Dark full control from script concept through final editing.
Alright, now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s move on to what films will be coming at us as part of After Dark Originals: HUSK, FERTILE GROUND, SCREAM OF THE BANSHEE, PROWL, THE TASK, RE-KILL, SECONDS APART and 51. Now we’ve heard the details on all of the above except one: HUSK. Well that’s exactly what I’m here to tell you about today! Not only do we have the details for HUSK, but we’ve also got a look at some sales art for the flick as well as it’s trailer! Actually it’s a trailer for the HUSK short film… but we’ll get to that.
HUSK comes from director Brett Simmons and stars C. J. Thomason, Devon Graye and Wes Chatham. Here’s the rundown:
The story sees five friends on a weekend trip who become stranded in isolated farmland when crows attack their SUV. They soon realize that the cornfields are inhabited by reanimated human scarecrows who reproduce by killing and forcing their undead victims to join their ranks.
Directly below you’ll find the first sales art for the film, which sports a pretty creepy looking scarecrow! That motherf*cker looks like he’s ready to beat some ass! Nice! Join the harvest! Then below that not only will you find a teaser trailer for After Dark Originals, but you’ll also find the trailer for HUSK, the short film Brett Simmons lit up Sundance with a few years ago! I think it’s safe to say the HUSK feature will be based on the short so there you have it. Not too shabby. Just scope that shite out below or head on over to our videos section.
