Many movie stars are making their way to television. Sylvester Stallone made his streaming series debut in Paramount+’s Tulsa King to much praise and a second season renewal. Harrison Ford will also be coming to TV in the Apple Original comedy, Shrinking. A previous film of Harrison Ford’s, Presumed Innocent, will now be re-adapted for Apple TV+ and word is, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in the leading role.

The Hollywood Reporter has the skinny on the project, which is an adaptation of a novel by author Scott Turow. Apple had ordered a season back in February with a heavy-hitting production team behind it. This team includes TV veteran David E. Kelley, as well as the co-creator of Castle Rock, Dustin Thomason, and producing juggernaut J.J. Abrams. Abrams’ Bad Robot will be producing in association with Warner Bros. Television which signed Bad Robot to a huge deal.

The synopsis reads, “Gyllenhaal is set to star as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor whose world is upended when a close colleague is murdered — and the evidence begins to point to Rusty himself. The role would be his first ongoing part in a TV series. Presumed Innocent was previously adapted for a 1990 feature film that starred Harrison Ford as Sabich, along with Bonnie Bedelia and Raul Julia. Kelley’s version will be a ‘reimagining’ of Turow’s novel that will explore, per the show’s logline, ‘obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.'”

Gyllenhaal was recently seen this year in the Michael Bay actioner, Ambulance. He can also be heard as the voice of the main character in Disney’s Strange World, which was released this past Thanksgiving. The Warner Bros. and Bad Robot producing tandem has already released the production Little Voice and Lisey’s Story for Apple and will be making a redo of the classic animated series, Speed Racer.
