Quentin Tarantino wanted Al Pacino in his new movie, and he's getting Al Pacino. It was back in January that we heard Tarantino had written a role specifically for the legendary actor in his new movie ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, and all these months later Pacino has officially signed on to play that role.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt have the lead roles in the film, which is set in 1969 Los Angeles, "at the height of hippy Hollywood".
Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor… Sharon Tate.
Pacino's character is Marvin Schwarz, Rick Dalton's agent.
Also in the cast are Margot Robbie as real life actress and Manson Family victim Sharon Tate; Emile Hirsch as Tate's hairstylist friend Jay Sebring, who was also murdered by the Manson Family; Dakota Fanning as Manson Family member Squeaky Fromme; Burt Reynolds as George Spahn, the man who owned the ranch the Manson Family lived on; Nicholas Hammond, who played Spider-Man on the 1970s TV series, as real life actor/director Sam Wanamaker; Damian Lewis as iconic movie star Steve McQueen; Luke Perry as a character named Scotty Lancer; Clifton Collins Jr. as Ernesto the Mexican Vaquero; Keith Jefferson as Land Pirate Keith; and, in unspecified roles, Zoe Bell, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, and Timothy Olyphant.
Tarantino is still looking for actors to play Tate's husband, ROSEMARY'S BABY director Roman Polanski, and the legendary cinematic hero Bruce Lee.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD begins filming soon for an August 9, 2019 release. A date that marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Tate murders.
