The late Ray Liotta will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Friday, the same day as his first posthumous movie, Cocaine Bear, comes to theaters.

In a statement by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who oversees the Walk of Fame, they announced that Ray Liotta will receive the 2,794 star on February 24th. In their release, they recalled, “With more than 60 feature films to his credit, Ray Liotta exceled at diverse and challenging roles in both comedy and drama.” Interestingly, according to the Walk of Fame’s website, “There is a two year waiting period after death” for a posthumous nomination to be considered. However, this seems to have been bent a bit, as Liotta passed away less than one year ago.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, stated, “Ray Liotta’s all-around career made him a triple threat and sadly his passing was devastating to the entertainment world…The characters he portrayed will always be etched in Hollywood’s film history.”

Cocaine Bear director Elizabeth Banks and Taron Egerton, who co-starred with Ray Liotta on Apple TV+’s Black Bird (Liotta’s first posthumous release), will be guest speakers at the event. The star will be accepted on Liotta’s behalf by his daughter Karsen.

Ray Liotta has numerous posthumous projects lined up. These include the Charlie Day-directed satire Fool’s Paradise, body horror flick The Substance and thriller Dark Waters. The last film released before Liotta’s death was Every Last Secret, which came out just over one month before his passing. Liotta had two strong performances in his final full year. First was for Steven Soderbergh in No Sudden Move, while the second was as twin Moltisantis in The Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark, giving him a place in the Sopranos universe that seemed so fitting.

The loss of Ray Liotta has a huge one for the movie industry, with many friends and collaborators mourning his May 2022 death.

Cocaine Bear arrives on February 24th. No word yet on if Cocaine Shark will ever surface.

You can live stream the event on the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s website.
