If you’ve been wanting to see RED STATE but were hesitant to shell out $80 to watch the film and director Kevin Smith at one of those special screenings/Q&A sessions this past spring, there’s some good news for you. This September, you’ll only have to pay $10 to see the controversial flick, in the comfort of your own home. The news comes straight from Smith’s official site, although naturally you’ll have to skip paragraphs filled with ranting against his enemies to find it.

RED STATE will be available in your home beginning Labor Day, (Monday, September 5th). The film will then get a limited theatrical run in October, as has been planned; said theatrical shows will be followed by a live-streamed Q&A with Smith. Or something. I can hardly follow the man’s ramblings. If you want to read Smith’s words on the matter, head on over to his blog. (Though I give Smith a lot of shit, there’s a pretty fascinating article on the site about how Quentin Tarantino inspired RED STATE; read that HERE.)

Red State begins by following three horny high-school boys who come across an online ad from an older woman looking for a gang bang. Boys being boys, they hit the road to satisfy their libidinal urges. But what begins as a fantasy takes a dark turn as they come face-to-face with a terrifying “holy” force with a fatal agenda.

The film stars Michael Angarano, Kerry Bishe, Nicholas Braun, Kyle Gallner, John Goodman, Melissa Leo, Michael Parks, Kevin Pollak and Stephen Root.
