Whether we like it or not LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is being remade by CLOVERFIELD director Matt Reeves. And unfortunately it’s still moving forward! Actually Reeves just finished his second draft of the script according to the LA Times!

They also had a chance to sit down with Reeves and ask him about this remake. In response to the original film he had this to say: “I was just hooked. I was so taken with the story and I had a very personal reaction. It reminded me a lot of my childhood, with the metaphor that the hard times of your pre-adolescent, early adolescent moment, that painful experience is a horror.” And when asked if he’ll up the ages of the characters to go along with today’s mess of TWILIGHT-esque films Reeves responded: “….there’s this cynicism that I’ll come in and trash it, when in fact I have nothing but respect for the film. I’m so drawn to it for personal and not mercenary reasons, my feeling about it is if I didn’t feel a personal connection and feel it could be its own film, I wouldn’t be doing it. I hope people give us a chance.”

So what do you think? Shall we go ahead and trust Reeves and give him a chance? Or should we just keep to the fact that this film should not be remade? The remake, now titled LET ME IN seeing how that’s the English translation of the original novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, is currently scouting locations and is looking at a Fall 2010 release. Reeves is setting this one in a snow-covered Reagan-era Colorado. Keep it here for more on LET ME IN as we hear it!

Reeves’ isn’t the only career helped by CLOVERFIELD – Gorgeous CLOVERFIELD star Odette Yustman.
