For all of the times that students, parents, and faculty members were made to sit through torturous renditions of Broadway classics and indie gems while attending a high school play, it's comforting to know that the students of North Bergen High School have changed the game. Recently, the Drama Club of North Bergen staged a bewildering production titled Alien: The Play. Following their spirited performance, scenes from the play went viral on social media, eventually gaining the attention of ALIEN director Ridley Scott. So impressed was Scott by the student's efforts after only seeing a brief snippet of the performance, that today he's reached out to them via a praise-laden letter, acknowledging his admiration for their version of the 1979 sci-fi classic.

You can read Scott's letter to the North Bergen High School Drama Club below, which had been shared exclusively via Deadline this afternoon:

If you've yet to catch a portion of Alien: The Play online, you can view a clip from the performance below:

Ah, but the accolades don't stop at a kind letter from a prolific director, no sir. Scott has also stated that he'll be kicking some money over to the North Bergen High School Drama Club, to see that the program remains open as part of an effort to help aspiring actors and crew members of the group to continue honing their craft. I mean hey, the students of today could potentially become the iconic filmmakers of tomorrow if given the opportunity, right? Scott will also personally sponsor an encore performance of Alien: The Play. How cool is that?
