Rihanna talks Star Trek Beyond’s song Sledgehammer plus IMAX release

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

There's been a lot of talk about music for big summer movies, whether it be for SUICIDE SQUAD or GHOSTBUSTERS, and thanks to the latest trailer, STAR TREK BEYOND now joins that list. Rihanna contributes her vocal stylings to the song "Sledgehammer", of which will be featured somewhere in BEYOND. For those of you checking out BEYOND in IMAX, you'll also get a chance to see the music video, which is the first one of its kind to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras. But you don't have to take my word for it! Check out Rihanna talking about her song and Trek in the following video!

I imagine my reaction to a pop song being featured in TREK was the same as most people's, and I wondered, "Why?" But you know, James Bond flicks feature pop songs left and right and we don't bat an eye. Perhaps I'm just comparing this song to the ones featured in SUICIDE SQUAD and GHOSTBUSTERS, but it doesn't sound half bad! I guess we'll know for sure once this bad boy hits IMAX theaters!

STAR TREK BEYOND opens on July 21, 2016.
