It has taken eighteen years, but writer/director Rob Zombie has finally finished the "Firefly trilogy" he began with HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES (which was filmed in 2001 but wasn't released until 2003) and continued with THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, as he's currently wrapping up post-production on the third film in the series, 3 FROM HELL. Zombie marked the completion of the trilogy by sharing an image on Instagram that combines pictures of him on the set of all three films.

Zombie has never shared details on the plot of 3 FROM HELL, but we do know that the characters of Baby Firefly (Sheri Moon Zombie), Otis B. Driftwood (Bill Moseley), and Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), who appeared to have been killed off at the end of THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, survived their shootout with the police and have spent some time in prison since we last saw them.

Moseley, Moon Zombie, and Haig are joined in the cast by THE DEVIL'S REJECTS co-stars Danny Trejo as Rondo and Daniel Roebuck as Morris Green, plus new additions Clint Howard, Richard Brake, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Emilio Rivera, David Ury, Dee Wallace, Pancho Moler, Austin Stoker, Tom Papa, Dot-Marie Jones, Richard Edson, Richard Riehle, Kevin Jackson, Billy Blair, Steven Michael Quezada, Bill Oberst Jr., Sylvia Jefferies, and Sean Whalen.

Lionsgate and Saban Films are expected to release 3 FROM HELL sometime this year. Hopefully it won't be much longer before a release date is announced.
