Robo-Director could be?

I don’t remember a movie that’s moved as quickly as the ROBOCOP remake seems to be going. First we get a teaser poster (right) before ANYTHING for the film is even announced. No director, not a single cast memeber, nothing. But hey, here’s a poster.

The poster, as you can see, leads us to believe that we’ll be seeing ROBOCOP sometime in 2010…. well because it says ‘Coming 2010.’ So that gives them over a year for production, well over a year if they’re aiming for late 2010. Yet it seems like MGM are already out there shopping for a director for the film… and not just a director, but a big name director!

In the same story Ammon told you about yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter also dropped the word that none other than Darren Aronofsky was recently called in to talk about possibly directing ROBOCOP. And THR states Mr. Aronofsky was ‘among others.’

Seems like MGM are aiming for something big with ROBOCOP, no? I don’t blame them either. If done right, this flick could really be awesome. Mind you… no where near as awesome as the original… but still a fun time.

You should take note that this announcement is only that Aronofsky was in for some meetings, this means it’s nowhere near a done deal that he’s actually directing. For all we know McG could be in the running as well… … Here’s hoping Aronofsky gets the job!

An Aronofsky ROBOCOP would be something else too… we all know Aronofsky is a brillaint director and a far out dude. One of his latest films was THE FOUNTAIN, which raped my brain then bought it dinner. We’ll keep you updated on any other ROBOCOP potential director news.

Rachel Weisz was part of Aronofsky’s last mindtrip – THE FOUNTAIN.
