Rumor: Marvel interested in Jared Leto for Doctor Strange

Now that Marvel has hired director Scott Derrickson for their DOCTOR STRANGE movie, the next task for the studio will be to find an actor to play the Sorcerer Supreme. Badass Digest has heard rumblings Marvel is interested in (or at the very least was considering) recent Oscar winner Jared Leto for Doctor Strange.

I have also heard that Marvel likes (or liked, I don't know what the current status of this is) Jared Leto for Stephen Strange.

Jared Leto might be joining the list of previously rumored actors to play Doctor Strange that includes Johnny Depp and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but it's not clear if Marvel is still looking at Jared Leto for the part, and even if they are, perhaps Leto isn't interested in playing the character. We will probably be learning more about DOCTOR STRANGE (as well as other future Marvel projects) at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and I bet the studio would really like to have an actor lined-up for the role before the convention.

I don't think Jared Leto would make a bad Doctor Strange, however he's certainly not my first choice to play the character either. Although he's 42 years old, he just looks way too young in the face to play Stephen Strange in my opinion. But this is only a rumor, and we'll have to wait and see if Marvel does have any interest in Jared Leto for Doctor Strange.
