Rumor of the Day: A Mel Gibson cameo in Hangover 2?

JoBloJoBlo

Take this with a full shaker of salt, but The Post’s Page Six (at least it’s not DigitalSpy) is reporting to have inside info that Mel Gibson will have a cameo in THE HANGOVER 2, currently shooting in the US and Thailand. As you’ll recall, Mike Tyson’s cameo in the original film helped shift public perception of him from dangerous crazy to funny crazy, and perhaps Mel is hoping to do the same with his current image.

Though Mel has been in a whole mess of trouble regarding radical racial remarks and horrific treatment of his girlfriend, most of you, when this issue comes up, say it doesn’t really have a bearing on him as an actor, and you’ll still see his films. His recent turn in THE BEAVER is getting a bit of Oscar buzz, and might a HANGOVER cameo be an added boost to his rehabilitation in the public eye?” What part would he be playing anyway? According to the unnamed source:

“It’s a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October.”

No word on whether he would just be a tattoo artist or “crazy Mel Gibson gets sick of America and becomes a Thailand tattoo artist.” In other words, he may or may not be playing himself, though I would think it would be funnier if he was. Again, all just a rumor, but I’m all for the idea.
